Cradle to Cradle Certified® Aluminium Systems
Certified aluminium window, door, sliding and façade systems designed around material health, circularity and measurable environmental and social responsibility.
What if materials were designed never to become waste?
Cradle to Cradle Certified® is a globally recognised product certification framework focused on safe, circular and responsibly made products.
Its core principle moves beyond the traditional “take, make, dispose” model. Materials should instead be considered part of continuous biological or technical cycles in which their value can be retained.
For architectural aluminium, this means looking beyond energy performance alone and considering material composition, circularity, manufacturing, environmental impact and social responsibility throughout the product lifecycle.
C2C Certified® Full Scope Bronze
Reynaers Aluminium's certified window, door, sliding and façade frame systems are currently listed in the official Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Registry under a Full Scope Bronze certification.
Moving from less waste to continuous material value.
The Cradle to Cradle concept was developed around the idea that products should be designed so their materials can continue to circulate after their original use.
Instead of treating end-of-life material as unavoidable waste, the approach encourages designers and manufacturers to understand material composition and plan for future recovery and reuse.
In architecture, this supports a broader shift toward buildings whose materials retain value throughout multiple life cycles.
From a linear model to a circular material cycle.
Circular design considers what happens to materials before, during and after the useful life of a building.
Take. Make. Use. Dispose.
Resources are extracted, converted into products, used for a period of time and eventually discarded, often losing much of their material value.
Design materials to circulate.
Products are designed with material health, recovery and future cycles in mind so that resources can remain useful beyond one application.
Five dimensions of product sustainability.
Full Scope Cradle to Cradle certification assesses products across multiple dimensions rather than relying on one environmental indicator alone.
Material Health
Understanding and improving the chemical composition of materials used within the certified product.
Product Circularity
Designing products and material flows to support recovery, reuse and future cycles.
Clean Air & Climate Protection
Addressing climate impact and emissions related to product manufacture.
Water & Soil Stewardship
Responsible management of water and impacts on surrounding environmental systems.
Social Fairness
Considering responsible practices and social impact across relevant parts of the value chain.
Certified systems for windows, doors, sliding solutions and façades.
Reynaers Aluminium has achieved Cradle to Cradle certification for a broad portfolio of architectural aluminium systems.
The current certification scope includes systems covering windows, doors, façades and minimal or high-performance sliding applications.
This allows architects and project teams to specify aluminium solutions supported by independent product-level sustainability certification while maintaining the architectural and performance requirements of demanding building projects.
Reynaers systems included in the current C2C certification.
The current official certification scope covers the following window, door, sliding and façade product families.
Window & Door Systems
Curtain Wall & Façade Systems
Sliding Solutions
Certification belongs to defined products — not automatically to every configuration.
Product variants, finishes, accessories and market-specific configurations may differ. For projects requiring documented Cradle to Cradle certification, the specified system should be verified against the current official certification scope and project documentation.
A durable material with strong circular potential.
Aluminium is particularly relevant to circular construction because it can be recovered and remelted at the end of a building component's useful life.
Effective circularity, however, requires more than simply describing aluminium as recyclable. Product design, material identification, dismantling, collection and appropriate recycling streams all influence whether material value is actually retained.
Cradle to Cradle therefore looks beyond a simple recycling claim and evaluates a wider set of environmental and product-design considerations.
Circular building products require more than one good material.
The sustainability of an aluminium window or façade depends on the complete element, its components, production and its ability to remain useful throughout and beyond the building lifecycle.
Material Knowledge
Understanding the composition of materials and components supports better product decisions.
Long Service Life
Durable building components reduce the need for premature replacement and additional material use.
Recoverable Materials
Future separation and recovery help materials maintain value after their original use.
Verified Information
Independent certification gives architects and project teams documented information instead of relying only on sustainability claims.
Cradle to Cradle within a wider sustainability strategy.
Cradle to Cradle is a product certification framework, while systems such as BREEAM and LEED assess the sustainability performance of buildings.
Using products supported by transparent environmental and circularity information can help architects, developers and sustainability consultants make more informed material choices within these larger building-level sustainability strategies.
The actual contribution of a product to a BREEAM or LEED assessment depends on the relevant scheme, project requirements and assessor evaluation.
Certification works best together with transparent product data.
Reynaers Aluminium provides a broader set of environmental and technical information that can support architects and consultants during sustainable building specification.
Cradle to Cradle & aluminium systems.
What is Cradle to Cradle Certified®?
It is an independent product certification framework that evaluates products across areas including material health, circularity, climate protection, water and soil stewardship, and social fairness.
Are Reynaers aluminium systems C2C certified?
Yes. A defined portfolio of Reynaers window, door, façade and sliding systems is currently covered by C2C Certified® Full Scope Bronze certification.
Which Reynaers systems are currently included?
The certification scope currently includes ConceptSystem 77, SlimLine 38, MasterLine 8, MasterLine 10, ConceptWall 50, ConceptWall 60, ConceptWall 86-EF, ElementFaçade 7, SlimWall 35, HiFinity and MasterPatio.
Does C2C certification mean a building is sustainable?
No single construction product determines the overall sustainability of a building. C2C provides verified product-level information, while complete building performance depends on design, systems, materials, operation and many other factors.
Is Cradle to Cradle the same as BREEAM or LEED?
No. Cradle to Cradle primarily certifies products, while BREEAM and LEED are building-level sustainability assessment frameworks. They can be complementary within the same project.
Should certification be checked before specification?
Yes. Certification status and scope can change over time, so projects requiring C2C documentation should verify the exact product and current certificate before final specification.
